Stop Judging Yourself So Damn Much

Okay maybe dramatic
I want to be the best

Ever hear of this book?
I’ll do a really shitty job at summarizing it but there’s this guy named Tim. And Tim was every great basketball players head trainer. Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, on and on. And in the book he speaks about the obsession it takes to become the best. And it gets to a certain point where to me it seems like being the best doesn’t even provide you any sense of happiness or peace because you’re so consumed with your mission that anything short of excellence is failure.
So i’m here to offer a new alternative. I want to become the best. But I want to find a way to do it in connection with God / The Universe that I don’t have to work so damn hard. Scratch that. I want to work my f*cking ass off.

This is me.
Work ethic isn’t new to me. You wouldn’t believe the mountains i’ve had to climb to get to where I am today. But where Jake today is different from that young division 1 19 year old stallion -
I honor source now. I don’t claim to do everything myself. And I definitely don’t like burning out.
“There is a tide in the affairs of men
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune” - Shakespeare
Badass huh? Fucking Shakespeare lol
The point of today’s newsletter at the beginning was supposed to be me just telling you to start. And stop judging yourself so damn much because you’ll never get anything done and you’ll just stress yourself out. I don’t know if this ever happens to you but sometimes when I start a project there’s extreme excitement around what could be. But then a followed period of fear that maybe you’re not as good as you say you are.
This newsletter for example. I am genuinely over the moon and ecstatic to be here and expand my skill of writing and again, find my most authentic message in life while adding supreme value to your life and genuinely helping you. So my goal here isn’t to be good. My goal is to unselfishly lead with love and grow as a writer over time with you guys.
But i’m not going to lie. I don’t feel like the greatest writer. But “writing” is a skill. Like many things in life. And if there’s 1 thing I know how to do in life it’s get fucking better.

Now
The pressure of doing something on day 1 and feeling like you need to be Martin Scorcese will make you quit. Trust me.
So 1. Just start. There’s something you’re not doing because you’re afraid.
Even if it means looking like a fool - it won’t always be this way.
And 2. Try to find “Flow” in your life.
Again - There is a tide in the affairs of men, which taken at the flood, leads on to fortune.
What do you feel called to do?
Do that shit.
